Shape Process Automation Celebrates 50 years

Shape Process Automation is proud to celebrate 50 years of providing advanced process cutting technology and world-class service to customers all over the globe.

April 7, 2022 – Shape Process Automation began several decades ago back in 1972 in the town of Ronneby, Sweden as a provider of waterjet cutting technology solutions with the first commercial waterjet cutting system installed under the brand name Best Matic. Over the past half-century, the company has evolved and undergone several name changes including ABB I-R, KMT Robotic Solutions, and Dynamic Robotic Solutions. Renamed Shape Process Automation in 2019 included the strategic acquisitions of RPT in 2007, Tech-Con Automation in 2015, and Aquarese in 2019.

Over the past several years the Shape Process Automation Group has significantly expanded its capabilities and scope by leveraging its unique path accuracy cutting and trimming expertise into other processing technologies such as robotic laser and robotic router cutting in addition to robot integration, assembly, and material handling.
“We have such a rich and long-standing history of supporting customers and industries with our systems in the marketplace and are known for our path accuracy cutting technology. Our 50th year is a great accomplishment and an achievement that our current staff and previous ownership groups should be extremely proud of” stated Nino LaDuca, Global President of Shape Process Automation Group.

Today, Shape Process Automation is a worldwide market leader in robotic cutting systems, with over 12,000 installations in more than 70 countries and over 350 employees located in:

  • Auburn Hills, MI USA
